Electrical Estimator – Commercial Solar

Location: Remote (South Africa-based) | Working U.S. Central Time (3:00 pm–12:00 am SAST)

Salary: R 780 000 CTC per annum

Shape solar projects across the U.S. without leaving South Africa.

Is this you?

You’re a detail-driven electrical estimator who enjoys solving complex costing challenges. With a sharp eye for numbers and a deep understanding of solar PV systems, you’re confident working independently and thrive in a remote setting. You communicate clearly, collaborate well with engineers and sales teams, and take pride in producing accurate, competitive bids.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll prepare comprehensive cost estimates and material take-offs for commercial and utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. Using Trimble Accubid or similar software, you’ll analyse electrical drawings, interpret specifications, and liaise with sales and engineering teams to align on labour, material and risk factors. Your input will help shape competitive proposals, support project development and identify value-engineering opportunities that make a real impact.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a fast-growing U.S.-based renewable energy company focused on delivering large-scale commercial solar installations. With a fully remote structure and a collaborative international team, they’re committed to excellence, innovation and making clean energy more accessible across North America.

What you’ll need

You have at least 3 years’ experience as an Electrical Estimator, ideally within solar or MEP environments. You’re proficient in Trimble Accubid (or similar estimation tools) and bring a solid understanding of solar PV systems, BoQs and electrical layouts. You’re comfortable working South Africa-based U.S. hours, with strong English communication skills and a knack for accuracy and analysis.

What you’ll get

A competitive salary, flexible remote work, and the opportunity to work on high-impact U.S. clean-energy projects from the comfort of your home.
