Commercial Accountant (Renewable Energy)

Location: Stellenbosch, Cape Town

Salary: Market related

Behind every strong business decision is a sharp accountant. Ready to be that person?

Is this you?

You’re not the kind of Accountant who wants to just process and move on. You take ownership, ask questions and enjoy understanding the “why” behind the numbers. Detail matters to you, but so does the bigger picture. You’re comfortable working independently, thrive under deadlines and bring a calm, structured approach to a fast-paced environment. You’re equally confident rolling up your sleeves and stepping into a more commercial, decision-influencing space.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

This role blends financial and management accounting, giving you exposure across the full finance function. You’ll take ownership of month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and variance analysis, while ensuring tax compliance including VAT submissions. Beyond that, you’ll get involved in cost analysis, budgeting input, stock control oversight and supporting operational teams with meaningful financial insights. You will enjoy this because your work won’t just be reporting history, it will shape decisions and improve performance across the business.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll join a growing, multi-entity organisation operating across SA within a technically driven and project-focused industry. The team is young, energetic and highly dedicated, with a strong work ethic balanced by a social and collaborative culture. Expect a professional, deadline-driven finance environment during the week, with a more relaxed and connected atmosphere as the team unwinds together. Their offices are based in Stellenbosch. There is currently 1 day work from home and flexible working hours.

What you’ll need

A degree in accounting is essential, paired with 3–5 years’ experience in a financial or management accounting role. You’ll need solid exposure to month-end processes, tax compliance and ERP systems. Strong Excel skills, analytical thinking and the ability to work without constant supervision are key. Any exposure to multi-entity environments, stock or project accounting will set you apart. An added bonus would be exposure to the renewable energy, construction or engineering related industries.

What you’ll get

Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll receive 20 days leave, group life and disability cover and a performance-based bonus. There’s also a strong focus on team culture, with regular social events and a supportive, high-performance environment.
