Electrical and Instrumentation Manager

Location: Benoni, Gauteng

Salary: Market related

If commissioning exposes a weak link, then your leadership turns it into safer, more reliable industrial performance.

Is this you?

When commissioning challenges put safety or delivery at risk, you respond with structured thinking and decisive leadership. You set high technical standards, communicate clearly, stay commercially alert, coach specialists, challenge assumptions and turn root-cause findings into practical, lasting improvements.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

Overseeing the full E&I lifecycle, you will guide design, testing, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting across complex industrial systems. You will lead engineers and technicians, manage project plans, budgets and resources, and coordinate with technical, finance, research and client stakeholders. Your remit also includes quality audits, risk assessments, documentation, compliance and improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, efficiency and system performance.

Where you’ll be doing it

At the centre of an industrial engineering organisation, this head office function works across electrical systems, instrumentation, automation and ICT. The environment is grounded in technical rigour, client service, safety and quality, with direct access to executive leadership and responsibility for a multidisciplinary engineering department.

What you’ll need

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of electrical and instrumentation engineering experience are essential, including three years in management. You will need proven project and team leadership, CAD proficiency, and strong knowledge of power systems, motor control, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, industrial networks and process instrumentation. Registration with the relevant professional engineering body is highly desirable, while a relevant Master’s degree is advantageous.

What you’ll get

The scope reaches well beyond technical oversight. You will influence engineering strategy, build team capability and shape standards across the complete project lifecycle. The breadth of automation, control, networking, safety and improvement work offers substantial room to deepen your expertise while mentoring others and engaging at senior management level.
