External Sales Consultant

Location: Woodmead, Gauteng

Salary: Market related

Looking for a sales role where your technical knowledge is just as valuable as your ability to win business?

Is this you?

You enjoy building relationships, opening doors and turning opportunities into long-term partnerships. Naturally driven and commercially minded, you’re equally comfortable discussing technical products as you are negotiating with decision-makers. A resilient, self-disciplined approach, combined with strong communication skills and a passion for customer service, allows you to consistently deliver results while maintaining excellent relationships.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll be responsible for growing existing accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities across the food and chemical industries. Day-to-day, you’ll engage with customers, provide technical support during product trials, gather market intelligence, prepare pricing and quotations, and contribute towards sales planning and budgeting. Frequent travel across Gauteng and surrounding areas will keep your days varied and engaging. You’ll enjoy this role because it offers the perfect blend of relationship-building, technical problem-solving and business development, allowing you to make a measurable impact on both customers and company growth.

Where you’ll be doing it

This opportunity is with a well-established supplier of specialised process raw materials and activated carbon solutions to customers across the food, chemical and industrial sectors. The business has built a strong reputation for technical expertise, service excellence and long-standing customer partnerships. With a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with customers, solve real operational challenges and contribute to the continued growth of a respected niche market leader.

What you’ll need

A Matric qualification is essential, while a qualification or formal training in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or a related field will be highly advantageous. You’ll need 2-5 years of B2B sales, marketing or customer-facing experience, ideally selling technical products into industrial, food or chemical markets. Strong business acumen, excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans, proficiency in Microsoft Office and a proven ability to achieve sales targets are important. Own transport and a willingness to travel are essential.

What you’ll get

A competitive market-related package, depending on your skills and experience, which includes medical aid. In addition, you’ll gain exposure to a specialised technical industry, work alongside experienced professionals and enjoy genuine opportunities for long-term career growth within a respected and established business.
