External Sales Representative (Construction)

Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

Salary: Market related

Build a territory from the ground up with a trusted name in the construction and building materials industry.

Is this you?

You’re a target driven, relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys being out in the field and taking ownership. You’re comfortable working independently, managing your own time and priorities and making decisions day to day. Organised, resilient and commercially astute, you’re equally confident building client relationships and handling the practical realities of running a region on your own, with remote support from management.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll take full ownership of the KZN region, developing new business and growing existing accounts. This includes prospecting, cold calling, setting up and attending client meetings and managing the full sales cycle. As the first and currently only Representative in the region, you’ll also manage basic operational requirements such as coordinating samples, supporting order flow, logistics, and ensuring smooth communication between customers and head office teams. You’ll track activity against targets, report into sales leadership and play a key role in establishing both sales performance and regional presence from the ground up.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll represent a long-standing South African manufacturer within the construction materials space. The business is known for quality products, ethical operations and sustained investment in people and infrastructure. While you’ll operate independently in the Durban office, you’ll be fully supported by experienced management and sales teams based in Cape Town and Gauteng.

What you’ll need

You’ll have proven external sales experience, ideally within construction, building materials or a related industry. Ideally 5 years of experience managing aspects of operations, logistics coordination or regional responsibility. A completed Matric is required, while a tertiary qualification would be highly beneficial. You must be highly organised, disciplined with time management and comfortable working autonomously. Your own transport, a valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel daily are essential.

What you’ll get

A competitive salary package which includes a basic salary, car allowance, fuel, company cellphone, and laptop. You’ll also receive a pension fund contribution, life and disability cover, and a year-end bonus based on performance. But beyond the financials, you’ll be joining a values-led business that’s been proudly build for over 50 years. You’ll be part of a team that takes pride in craftsmanship, quality and community, not just manufacturing a product, but building a legacy. You’ll work with leaders who value integrity, hands-on involvement and practical decision-making. This is a company that backs its people, stays true to its roots, and believes in doing things properly.
