Financial Assistant

Location: Maitland Cape Town

Salary: Market related

Take charge of a hands-on finance role in a fast-moving environment where your attention to detail truly matters.

Is this you?

You’re a detail-driven finance professional who enjoys keeping things accurate, organised and moving forward. You communicate confidently, take ownership of your work, and are comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You’re the sort of person who spots discrepancies quickly, follows through, and takes pride in producing reliable financial information.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll support the Financial Manager with the finance function across mainly debtors, creditors, banking, cashbook and reporting. This includes reconciliations, fixed asset register maintenance, credit card and casual wage processing, debtor reporting, supplier invoice management, retail cash-up reviews, commission reporting, leave tracking, and supporting compliance, audit readiness and continuous process improvement. The company is growing and they’re in need of someone that can work on a variety of tasks.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a well-established importer and distributor in the premium fashion sector. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Maitland, with working hours from Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm.

What you’ll need

You’ll need solid all-round finance experience which includes experience in the duties mentioned above and strong reconciliation skills, and confidence working on accounting systems such as Xero. You’ll need strong Excel skills and be proficient with Vlookup’s and pivot tables. Exposure to debtors, creditors, banking, reporting and financial controls will be important, along with the ability to work accurately and independently in a deadline-driven environment. A Matric certificate is essential, and a tertiary qualification in Finance or a related field will be highly advantageous.

What you’ll get

You’ll join a stable, respected business in a dynamic industry, with exposure to a growing company and role and the chance to add real value within a collaborative team environment. Salary is market related.
