Junior Software Developer

Location: Cape Town, Cayman Islands

Salary: Market related

Launch your tech career where finance meets innovation and relocate to the Cayman Islands.

Is this you?

You’re a curious and detail-driven problem solver with a passion for coding and automation. Whether independently or in a team, you thrive in solving data challenges and enjoy collaborating with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You’re organised, eager to learn, and excited to apply your skills in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll support a range of internal technology projects across a hedge fund platform, developing and maintaining Python and R scripts that automate workflows and streamline operations. You’ll help transition manual processes to app-based tools, interface with APIs and databases, and support data engineering pipelines. You’ll also create internal utilities, dashboards, and automated reporting tools that improve decision-making and operational efficiency for teams across the business. It’s a hands-on role that offers constant learning and real impact.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll be joining a high-performing team within a leading alternative investment firm. Known for its dynamic and collaborative culture, this organisation sits at the forefront of technology in financial services. You’ll work closely with operations, compliance, and investment teams—gaining exposure to financial systems and the inner workings of asset management, all while being supported to grow into broader engineering or analytics roles.

What you’ll need

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, plus 1–3 years’ experience using Python and/or R. You should be comfortable with structured data, APIs, databases, Git, and have basic SQL knowledge. Familiarity with data-centric tools like pandas or NumPy is a plus, as is exposure to LLMs for development productivity. Above all, you bring initiative, attention to detail, and a hunger to learn.

What you’ll get

A competitive salary, opportunities for growth, and first-hand experience within a high-calibre hedge fund. You’ll gain exposure to complex financial systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams—all in a setting that values innovation, accountability, and learning.
