People Business Partner

Location: Newlands, Cape Town

Salary: Market related
Duration: Permanent

Shape people strategy and partner with leaders in a fast-growing renewable energy environment.

Is this you?

You’re a confident and commercially aware HR professional who thrives on partnering with leaders to shape people strategy and influence business outcomes. You enjoy operating as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance on workforce planning, talent development and organisational effectiveness. With strong judgement and a collaborative approach, you’re comfortable challenging and coaching managers while helping them translate business goals into effective people practices. You’re known for your professionalism, emotional intelligence and ability to balance strategic thinking with practical solutions. Naturally curious and insight-driven, you use data and trends to inform decisions and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen engagement, performance and long-term capability across the business.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll support a defined business portfolio by delivering end-to-end HR partnering services to leaders and employees. This includes advising managers on performance management, coaching them through feedback and underperformance discussions, and supporting recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities. You’ll monitor workforce trends, identify potential people risks and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making. You’ll also drive employee engagement initiatives, support learning and development interventions, contribute to talent and succession discussions, and manage day-to-day employee relations matters in line with labour legislation and HR best practice.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a globally recognised energy organisation focused on developing and operating renewable and low-carbon power solutions. With projects across multiple countries and a strong presence in Southern Africa, the business is playing a key role in expanding sustainable energy infrastructure. The organisation is experiencing significant growth and offers a collaborative, forward-thinking culture where people development, innovation and long-term impact are highly valued.

What you’ll need

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or a related field, along with 6–8 years’ HR experience and at least 4–6 years in a People Business Partner role. You should have experience supporting leaders independently across multiple HR disciplines, strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practice, and the ability to interpret HR data and translate insights into practical actions. Experience with HRIS systems and MS365 is essential, along with strong stakeholder management and coaching skills.

What you’ll get

An opportunity to play a meaningful role in a growing, future-focused organisation within the renewable energy sector. You’ll work with experienced leaders, contribute to impactful people initiatives and be part of a business committed to sustainable growth and employee development, while enjoying a flexible hybrid working environment.
