Production Manager (Greenhouse)

Location: Krugersdorp, Gauteng

Salary: Market related

Whether you’re stepping into leadership for the first time or already leading from the front, this role offers the chance to build your career in a highly specialised production environment.

Is this you?

You might be a recent horticulture graduate ready for your first serious operational role, someone with a few years of production experience looking to move into leadership, or an existing supervisor wanting exposure to a larger and more specialised environment. What matters most is your energy, willingness to learn and ability to thrive in a hands-on production setting. You enjoy solving problems, taking ownership and being actively involved in operations rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll support the day-to-day running of greenhouse operations, working closely with the Production Director and wider production team across horticulture related duties such as agricultural care, irrigation, climate control, stock management and operational reporting. Initially, the focus will be on learning the production environment and understanding the technical side of the operation thoroughly. Over time, responsibilities will expand depending on your experience and progression. Candidates already in leadership may step into team responsibilities sooner. You’ll enjoy this role because it offers hands-on exposure to a niche industry, mentorship from experienced operators and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in a large-scale production environment.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a long-established player in the agricultural sector operating near Krugersdorp. They are widely recognised for quality, innovation and sustainability. The business has also received international industry recognition for excellence. With a large and diverse workforce, the company places strong emphasis on culture fit, development and creating long-term career opportunities for ambitious individuals. This role is fully site based and highly operational in nature.

What you’ll need

A horticulture qualification would be highly advantageous, although candidates with solid production experience from other industries along with a Matric will also be considered. If you don’t have a horticultural background, at least 5 years’ production experience is essential. Strong communication skills, leadership potential, adaptability and willingness to work in a physically active environment are all important. A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport are non-negotiable due to the location.

What you’ll get

You’ll join a respected and expanding business offering hands-on mentorship, long-term growth potential and exposure to a niche industry with limited talent in the market. In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary, valuable operational experience and the opportunity to build a meaningful career within a business known for developing and promoting talent internally.
