Production Manager (RE manufacturing – transport applications)

Location: Cape Town

Salary: Market related

Lead production in a scaling renewable energy business, breaking new ground in commercial transport.

Is this you?

You’re a hands-on production leader who thrives in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment. You take ownership, work independently and bring structure to complexity. Calm under pressure and highly organised, you’re just as comfortable on the factory floor as you are managing plans, people and performance. You lead from the front and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll take full responsibility for day-to-day factory operations, ensuring efficient, safe and high-quality production. From planning and scheduling through to assembly, testing and delivery, you’ll drive performance across the entire production cycle. You’ll implement and optimise systems, introduce lean and continuous improvement initiatives, and manage inventory, costs and KPIs. Working closely with engineering and leadership, you’ll also support new product introduction and help scale production as demand grows locally and internationally.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll join an innovative engineering business specialising in renewable energy solutions for commercial vehicles, particularly within the cold chain logistics space. With several years of successful operation and proven technology already deployed across major commercial clients, the company is now entering an exciting scale-up phase, including expansion into international markets. The team is small, highly technical and purpose-driven, offering a genuine opportunity to shape production in a business with global potential.

What you’ll need

A degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (or similar), along with 8–10 years’ experience in manufacturing operations and at least 3 years in a leadership role. You’ll have strong experience in production planning, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, quality systems and HSE compliance. Exposure to electrical systems, solar PV or power electronics will be advantageous.

What you’ll get

The opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a growing, future-focused business. You’ll have real influence on how production evolves, working in a flexible, non-corporate environment where your impact will be visible and valued.
