Sales Engineer (Marine)

Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town

Salary: Market related

Drive sales in South Africa's commercial marine industry!

Is this you?

You understand that selling into the commercial marine sector is about keeping businesses operational, not selling leisure products. You’ve earned credibility through years of building relationships with boat builders, fishing vessel operators and other commercial marine customers. Technically minded with a consultative approach, you’re equally comfortable discussing propulsion systems with engineers as you are closing commercial deals with business owners. You’re looking for an opportunity where your industry reputation, experience and network will allow you to make an immediate impact.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

This role focuses exclusively on the commercial marine market, working with commercial boat builders, fishing vessel operators, fleet owners, repair yards and other businesses that rely on vessels to generate income. You’ll identify new business opportunities, strengthen long-term customer relationships and manage the full sales process, from technical consultation and quotations through to order fulfilment, warranty support and after-sales service. Working closely with service, logistics and internal teams, you’ll ensure customers receive practical solutions that keep their operations running efficiently. You’ll enjoy this role because you’ll have the autonomy to grow your territory, influence business growth and become the trusted technical advisor that commercial operators rely on.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll be joining a long-established leader within the marine engineering industry, based in Paarden Eiland. Recognised for delivering premium technical solutions and exceptional customer support. The business has built its reputation on technical excellence, reliability and long-standing partnerships across the commercial marine sector. This is a known replacement position where succession planning has been managed openly and professionally, allowing for a structured handover into an established customer base.

What you’ll need

A minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience within the marine industry is essential, with strong exposure to the commercial marine market. A background in marine engineering or propulsion systems will be highly advantageous, particularly if you’ve successfully moved into sales. You’ll be someone who can hit the ground running, backed by an established industry reputation, excellent relationship-building skills and the confidence to work independently while managing a busy sales territory.

What you’ll get

You’ll receive a competitive basic salary together with a company vehicle, fuel, full medical aid, pension fund, cellphone allowance, discretionary 13th cheque and incentive bonus. In return, you’ll become part of a respected business that invests in its people, values long-term relationships and offers the opportunity to represent leading products within the commercial marine industry.
