Senior Electrical Grid Engineer

Location: Cape Town

Salary: Market related + benefits
Duration: Permanent

Shape the future of renewable energy by leading grid integration on flagship solar and hybrid projects.

Is this you?

You’re a detail-oriented and solution-driven electrical engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You combine technical precision with strong communication and leadership abilities. Your analytical mindset and commercial awareness equip you to make smart, independent decisions while mentoring and guiding others. You enjoy taking ownership and seeing projects through to successful delivery.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll be the key expert driving medium- and high-voltage grid engineering across utility-scale solar and hybrid energy projects. From early-stage design to post-commissioning support, you’ll lead grid code compliance, utility liaison, and technical documentation. You’ll review EPC and SCADA interface designs, advise on permitting, conduct technical feasibility studies, and troubleshoot grid-related field issues. As a mentor and strategic contributor, you’ll also share expertise across regions and help establish engineering best practices that support a global renewable energy vision.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll be part of an internationally recognised renewable energy developer known for delivering utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid energy solutions. With over 5.5GW installed globally and a strong footprint in South Africa, the company operates in a certified matrix structure, promoting growth, collaboration, and sustainability. Their culture is inclusive, dynamic, and built around a shared vision of 100% renewable energy.

What you’ll need

You’ll need a qualification in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience in renewable energy EPC, IPP, or consulting, ideally with grid integration focus. A clear understanding of South African Grid Codes and their application in PV and hybrid projects is essential. You should have experience in substation design, MV/HV electrical systems, BoQ creation, and interpreting technical specs and contracts. Pr. Eng registration is advantageous.

What you’ll get

You’ll enjoy a market-related salary, hybrid working policy, performance-based bonus, and medical aid contribution. Expect global exposure, leadership opportunities, and the chance to innovate in a company deeply committed to renewable energy.
