Solutions Manager: Monitoring & Control Systems (Solar PV)

Location: Sea Point

Salary: Market related

If you’ve been involved in integrating inverters, batteries and monitoring systems, and you enjoy solving real system challenges, this will feel familiar.

Is this you?

You are comfortable working across design, commissioning and client discussions. You understand communication protocols like Modbus and TCP/IP because you have had to deal with them in practice. You can look at a system and quickly identify how components should connect, where things can go wrong, and how to fix them. You are not just designing systems, you are thinking about how they behave in the real world.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You will take ownership of how monitoring and control solutions are designed, positioned and deployed across a growing solar PV portfolio, with a strong focus on Meteocontrol. You will support sales teams with system design and technical input during client engagements, and you will design monitoring and control architectures across commercial and hybrid systems. You will produce system layouts, communication structures and basic SLDs, while ensuring compatibility between inverters, storage systems and monitoring platforms. You will work closely with commissioning teams, supporting integration, setup and optimisation, and you will step in when systems do not behave as expected, whether remotely or on site. Part of your role will also involve training internal teams, partners and customers, and acting as the link between suppliers, customers and internal teams when technical issues need to be resolved properly.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a well-established player in the solar sector, supplying integrated PV solutions, technical support and engineering expertise across South Africa and the wider Sub-Saharan region. With operations in Cape Town and Johannesburg, a strong partner network, and a portfolio that includes monitoring, storage, inverters and broader solar infrastructure, they offer a collaborative environment where technical capability and customer service are highly valued.

What you’ll need

A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar, is preferred, along with 3–5+ years’ experience in solar PV or energy systems. You should bring proven exposure to technical sales or solutions engineering, PV design and integration, and monitoring, SCADA or energy management systems. Strong knowledge of PV architecture, data acquisition and communication protocols such as Modbus and TCP/IP is essential, while Meteocontrol and major inverter or storage platform experience will be a strong advantage.

What you’ll get

You will join a technically strong team where your input matters. This role gives you the opportunity to take ownership of a critical part of the solution stack and shape how monitoring and control systems are deployed across the business. The salary is market related and aligned to your experience.
