What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

As a Business Development Specialist, you’ll collaborate with pre-sales and engineering teams to efficiently develop projects. You’ll provide comprehensive administrative and proposal support, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Your role will involve processing sales proposals, maintaining lead-generation systems, managing correspondence, and composing documents. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining organized filing and tracking systems. By implementing effective processes and meeting sales KPIs, you’ll contribute to the growth of renewable energy in South Africa. Your strong interpersonal skills will help you cultivate relationships with key accounts, EPCs, and partners. Additionally, you’ll directly target customers for direct sales, support marketing events and meetings, and utilize social media for lead generation.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll be based in the Western Cape, with the flexibility to work autonomously and remotely, as their primary sales team is based in Johannesburg. You’ll be joining a team that’s allergic to bureaucracy. They see themselves as the Swiss Army knives in the industry, ready to adapt to where they’re needed. A leading provider of sustainable energy solutions in South Africa, designing, installing, owning, and maintaining energy assets for customers in the retail, tourism, residential, and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.

Founded in 2009, they developed and operates over 20 MW of solar PV assets in South Africa. Their team has 100 MW of active development assets nationally and has closed approximately 300 MW of power assets globally.

What you’ll need

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with outstanding interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships. You should be highly organized, adept at multitasking, and skilled in prioritisation, with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Honesty, dependability, and resourcefulness are essential in an entrepreneurial environment. Advanced proficiency in Excel, other MS Office applications, and the ability to quickly learn new software is required. You should also be willing to travel as needed.
