What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)
As an Equity Analyst you will play a crucial role in conducting thorough research and analysis of individual stocks, industries, and market trends. Your expertise will help guide investment strategies, evaluate potential investment opportunities, and provide key recommendations to the Portfolio Manager and CIO. You will do this by conducting comprehensive research and analysis of individual stocks, including financial statements, industry trends, and competitive landscapes. Monitor and interpret market data, economic indicators, and relevant news to identify investment opportunities and potential risks. You’ll develop financial models and valuation techniques to assess the intrinsic value of companies and determine their investment potential. Prepare detailed reports and investment recommendations for the Portfolio Manager, highlighting key findings and supporting data. Monitor and track the performance of assigned stocks and portfolios, making timely adjustments and recommendations as needed. You will get to work across all sectors in the local market with the potential to move into the global space.
Where you’ll be doing it
You’ll be joining a top-performing and growing boutique asset manager with R10 billion AUM. You’ll be based in the northern suburbs of Cape Town and will be joining a small highly skilled team where you will get to work directly with the Portfolio Manager and CIO. What makes them unique is that they follow a thematic approach with a valuation underpinning.
What you’ll need
To be considered for this opportunity you need to have a completed investment management degree as well as CFA Level 2. You need to have gained at least 2-3 years’ experience doing equity research and analysis within asset management. Your financial modelling skills will set you apart from the rest. You need to be proficient in using finance research tools, databases, and market data platforms. You will be office-based in Cape Town (Bellville) so living in the area is ideal and you need to be fluent in English and Afrikaans.
