German speaking Accounting and HR Officer

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll manage core finance functions for a major EU-funded cultural programme. Your responsibilities will include accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, asset and payroll accounting and reconciling outstanding items. You’ll prepare salaries, liaise with insurers and authorities, coordinate onboarding, contracts, and maintain personnel records and cost reporting. You’ll also support procurement, audits, closings, and help optimise internal processes in line with German and EU standards.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll join an internationally renowned cultural institute, with offices based in Parktown, Gauteng. This role is part of a newly established division created for this EU-funded project. You’ll work in-office with the benefit of one day working from home per week after probation. Standard working hours are 9am – 6pm, with a 2:30pm finish on Fridays. You’ll be part of a passionate, mission-driven team committed to cultural exchange and global cooperation.

What you’ll need

You’ll have a minimum of 3 years’ professional accounting experience and strong Excel skills. You’ll need to be fluent in German with a proven ability to work within complex financial systems. Familiarity with South African labour law is a plus. A valid South African work permit or SA Citizenship is essential.
