You’re a hands-on HR professional who would do well in an Owner managed Company focusing on HR processes in a fast paced and unique environment. You have a solid understanding of South African labour law, industrial relations, and payroll. You enjoy balancing compliance, employee relations, and HR administration while supporting operational teams with their people needs. If you’re detail-oriented and enjoy ensuring HR functions are executed efficiently, this role is for you.
You’ll be responsible for the full HR function, ensuring compliance with labour laws, Employment Equity, and B-BBEE requirements. You’ll handle HR administration, including employee contracts, payroll updates, and leave management, ensuring everything is accurate and on time. You’ll also support operations with recruitment for senior appointments, handle IR matters and deal with the unions and bargaining councils. Additionally, the Skills Development Facilitator will report to you and you’ll handle the workplace skills planning.
Our client is a well-established provider of food and catering solutions, operating across multiple locations with a workforce of over 400 employees. They have a strong focus on service excellence, compliance, and efficiency. The company operates in a fast-paced, environment where HR will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations. You’ll be based in Illovo at one of their clients sites. There is a handful of office staff where you’ll be based, the rest are contracted employees. Majority of the 400 plus employees are contract employees. This is a Monday to Friday in the office, 8am to 5pm.
You will be required to travel to different regions occasionally likely for a 1 or 2 day stay roughly every 2nd month but this is not cast in stone. We’ll need you to be flexible to the business’s needs.
A degree in Human Resources plus at least five years of experience as an HR Manager. We’re looking for someone from a multi-entity environment where a large part of the workforce is contract employees and you’ve had exposure with a bargaining council and union. There is a preference for someone from the food and beverage / FMCG type environment. A strong understanding of South African labour law, industrial relations, payroll administration and compliance with HR regulations is essential. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are key.
