Junior Construction Project Manager

Location: Various sites in Northern Cape

Salary: Market related
Duration: 24-month contract

Take the next step in your renewable energy project management career!

Is this you?

You’re a proactive and energetic Junior Project Manager with at least 2 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, ready to take on a new challenge. You’re known for your strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. With a passion for project delivery, you thrive under pressure and can balance technical requirements with client and contractor demands. Your excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and initiative make you a valuable team member, but you’re equally comfortable working independently. You’re also willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll play a vital role in supporting the project management team through various stages of our clients BESS (Battery Energy Storage Solution) projects, from site establishment to project closure. You will assist in coordinating project activities, organising progress meetings, and managing contractors’ compliance with technical specifications. You’ll monitor on-site construction and off-site manufacturing activities, ensuring quality control and adherence to contracts. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, you’ll track project risks, prepare reports, and ensure a smooth transition from project execution to operational handover. This hands-on role will give you exposure to every aspect of project management, including contract negotiations, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight, while ensuring safety standards and compliance with relevant legislation.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll be joining a leading renewable energy company that specialises in developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy projects across South Africa specifically in the BESIPPP (Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Procurement Programme). The site is based in the Northern Cape. Our client is a dynamic and innovative organisation that is committed to creating sustainable energy solutions and contributing to the region’s energy transition. With a strong focus on technical excellence and environmental responsibility, they value teamwork, innovation, and professional growth. You’ll be part of a collaborative culture that encourages learning and development while delivering world-class renewable energy solutions.

What you’ll need

You have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field, complemented by a tertiary qualification in Project Management. Ideally, you have experience in contract management and a solid understanding of engineering design and construction processes, particularly in renewable energy projects for at least 2 years. You’re familiar with HSE regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations, and have practical knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and IFC Performance Standards. If you hold SACPCMP certification, that’s a plus, but it’s not essential. Your strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills will be crucial in delivering successful project outcomes.

What you’ll get

Apart from an open door into the most sought-after energy space of the decade, you will be walking away with a comfortable salary at the end of each month including med/pens benefits and standard site benefits. R&R weekend is once a month from Thursday to Tuesday and travel to and from the site will be in your vehicle at own cost.
