What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)
You’ll be carrying out inspections across a range of lifting machinery, including MEWPs, aerial work platforms, forklifts, overhead cranes, chain blocks, lever hoists, vehicle hoists, and truck-mounted cranes. Whether you’re visiting client sites or working flexibly on a subcontract basis, you’ll enjoy the autonomy and variety that come with this vital safety-focused role.

What you’ll need
You must be a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) with ECSA, holding valid scopes for at least 3-4 machinery types listed above (excluding lifting tackle). Proven hands-on experience inspecting these machines is essential, alongside strong technical knowledge and a commitment to safety. Experience running your own inspection business or subcontracting is highly valued.
