You are a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Construction Supervisor who thrives on playing a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of a solar farm project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our clients’ impact on energy production in South Africa.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

In this role, you will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities that will keep you engaged and proactive:

Actively support the HSE and review and validate DSTIs, act as OHS, and guide contractors in adhering to the project’s EMPrs.

Monitor and oversee contractors’ on-site activities and performance within the scope of work, ensuring compliance with contracts, employer’s requirements, and industry best practices.

Provide QA/QC support, which entails ensuring accurate design implementation, and assisting the EPC Engineer with on-site engineering.

Collaborate with the Project Scheduler and Commercial team to measure progress review documents and interact with stakeholders to effectively convey company values and objectives on-site.

Where you’ll be doing it

The solar project in the Northern Cape boasts a 115MWp PV plant and three 30MW battery storage systems controlled by a virtual power plant controller. Our client is a leader in renewable energy and IPP and is fully dedicated to assembling a team of professionals to bring this project to fruition and mitigate our country’s energy crisis.

You will become an integral part of the established and passionate on-site team for the 18-20 month fixed-term contract.

What you’ll need

To excel in this role, you should possess a minimum of 5 years experience in the mechanical site or construction operations, with at least 2 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. A BTech or BSc (Diploma minimum) in Mechanical Engineering is required, with substantial exposure to these fields over the years. Additionally, you should demonstrate a thorough understanding of regulations, experience in managing multiple projects, and proactive and intercultural competence along with being a major team player and enjoy site.
