You’re  a hands-on problem solver ready to make an impact in the renewable energy sector. A leading South African renewable energy company, is in search of an O&M Technician (Solar PV). Your role will be crucial in ensuring the optimal performance of our solar PV assets.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

Your responsibilities include promptly correcting site faults, diagnosing and repairing string faults, resolving DC cable issues, and fault-finding on communications boards and equipment. You’ll also monitor and interpret data, work with various inverter types, and maintain our O&M vehicle. Maximising the performance of the solar plant and working with grid-monitoring relays will be part of your role.

Head office is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, but you will be working remotely in Cape Town. They’re allergic to bureaucracy and believe in autonomy. A leading provider of sustainable energy solutions in South Africa, designing, installing, owning, and maintaining energy assets for customers in the retail, tourism, residential, and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.

Founded in 2009, they developed and operates over 20 MW of solar PV assets in South Africa. Their team has 100 MW of active development assets nationally and has closed approximately 300 MW of power assets globally.

What you’ll need

Ideally, you are a qualified electrician with solar PV experience or actively pursuing an electrician qualification. Proficiency in electrical systems and communications equipment is a must. Experience with multimeters and solar string testers is crucial. At least 3 years of experience in the solar energy industry is preferred.

Having a Code B driving license, a valid Working at Heights certificate, and computer literacy, including inverter software competency, is a plus. Your high initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently will ensure your success in this role.
