Senior Solar & BESS Project Engineer

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

Salary: Market related

Looking for more ownership in your next engineering role?

Is this you?

You’re a practical Electrical Engineer who enjoys taking ownership from concept through commissioning. Solving complex engineering challenges, balancing multiple renewable energy projects and working alongside a close-knit, highly skilled team is what motivates you. You’re equally comfortable working independently and collaborating with engineers, designers and installation teams to deliver quality outcomes on time.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll design commercial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions, produce electrical designs, SLDs, layouts and technical documentation, complete PVsyst or PVSol modelling, support feasibility studies and technical proposals, and oversee projects through implementation and commissioning. Site visits, supplier coordination and ensuring compliance with South African electrical standards will form part of your role. You’ll enjoy this opportunity because you’ll have genuine ownership across the project lifecycle while working on diverse commercial and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Where you’ll be doing it

You’ll join a specialist engineering business recognised for delivering high-quality commercial and municipal renewable energy projects. With an experienced in-house team that includes engineers, designers, wiremen and project specialists, the business has built its reputation through technical excellence and long-term client relationships rather than aggressive sales. The environment is collaborative, flexible and focused on delivering engineering solutions that make a measurable impact.

What you’ll need

A BEng, BSc or BTech in Electrical Engineering together with 5 to 6 years’ Solar PV experience and at least 2 to 3 years designing or delivering BESS projects. Experience with commercial or utility-scale Solar PV systems, project engineering, AutoCAD, PVsyst and/or PVSol, electrical design and project delivery is essential. A valid driver’s licence is required.

What you’ll get

A market-related salary, hybrid working with Monday team collaboration at the Pretoria office and the remainder of the week working remotely or on-site, plus a laptop, monitor, engineering software, corporate clothing, mobile allowance and the opportunity to join immediately on exciting commercial and utility-scale renewable energy projects.
