Site Construction Manager

Location: NC/NW/MP (Various BESS sites)

Salary: Market related
Duration: 24-month contract

Bring your construction management expertise to a Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) site and be a part of the future of energy in South Africa.

Is this you?

You come from site construction management experience and know what it takes to manage a project of this scope within the EPC renewable space. You have the capacity to multitask various aspects of a project without breaking a sweat and love walking a construction site giving support and leadership.

In order to apply successfully, the following points should not be new to you, and you should be very comfortable implementing them.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

One of the most fundamental key aspects of this role is HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment). This means supporting the plan on site, validating documents and integrating considerations into the project as a whole just to name a few.

You will also, naturally, be managing the overall construction of the BESS plant and liaising with your supervisor team and subcontractors. Conducting daily meetings, and completing all necessary reports is where you shine.

Your Quality Assurance support is vital. Coordinating quality checks and ensuring all are conducted in a timely and effective manner.

Measuring the progress of designs, inspections and milestones is something that comes naturally to you while communicating with all necessary parties, including contractors, to ensure the project flows successfully to completion is important. Your reporting structure directs you straight to the Project Manager.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client, a leading international IPP, is spearheading a battery energy storage project on various sites in SA (North West/Mpumalanga/Northern Cape) featuring a state-of-the-art BESS with a capacity of 115MWp and three 30MW battery storage systems controlled by a virtual power plant controller. They are pulling together a team of invaluable people to head this engineering project. You will be joining the site for a 24-month fixed-term contract.

What you’ll need

With a tertiary qualification in Engineering or Construction (BSc or BTech), being SACPCMP Professional Construction Manager (Pr.CM) certified is advantageous, and holding a minimum of 5 years of site management experience, you will bring expertise to the table. And note that your previous experience with local communities will ensure seamless interactions between company and community.

You will need to be a top notch negotiator, communicator, and team player that is mentally and physically fit for the job.

What you’ll get

Apart from an open door into the most sought-after energy space of the decade, you will be walking away with a comfortable salary at the end of each month including med/pens benefits and standard site benefits. R&R weekend is once a month from Thursday to Tuesday and travel to and from the site will be in your vehicle at own cost
