Location: Cape Town or Johannesburg
You’re a confident, organised leader with a solid foundation in electrical systems and a proven ability to manage solar assets. You communicate clearly, can work with and manage contractors and stakeholders, and are comfortable making decisions that balance performance, quality, and cost. You enjoy the combination of technical problem-solving, planning, and reporting, and you understand the value of long-term thinking in this tight-knit renewable energy sector.
In this role, you’ll take full ownership of the operational performance of a growing solar PV and battery energy storage portfolio across South Africa. You’ll implement and manage O&M tools, oversee daily monitoring, investigate performance issues, and work closely with contractors to deliver reliable output. You’ll manage maintenance strategies, budgets, warranties, insurance, reporting, and regulatory relationships. You’ll also play a key role in integrating new assets and supporting the commissioning of new projects, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to operations.
You’ll be joining a mission-driven, international renewable energy group with strong local roots. Our client is a fast-growing player in the South African market, backed by an international group operating over 500 MW globally across five countries. They are ISO-certified and B-Corp accredited, committed to putting people and the planet at the heart of tomorrow’s energy. The local team combines the agility of a medium-sized business with the stability and expertise of its global parent.
You’ll need a degree in electrical engineering, along with 5–8 years of relevant experience—ideally in operations and maintenance management within the solar EPC sector. You should be familiar with monitoring software, KPIs, and reporting, and be confident managing service providers and contracts. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) is a strong advantage, as is experience with tools like PowerBI, CMMS, and a solid grasp of communication protocols and IT systems.
The chance to lead high-impact renewable energy projects in a company that values autonomy, honesty, and continuous improvement. You’ll work with an engaged and capable team, enjoy a stable yet flexible work environment, and help shape the future of solar energy in South Africa.
