Technical Sales Representative

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng

Salary: R20 000 – R35 000 CTC per annum + Commission

You are an experienced Technical Sales Representative responsible for hunting new business, expanding the client base and growing the business within the food, beverage and packaging sector. You have a solid background in external sales within the technical sector.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You will be responsible for identifying new clients and business opportunities within the food, beverage and packaging sector. You will be arranging meetings with potential clients and presenting tailored solutions. You will conduct daily client visits to assess stock levels, providing solutions and resolving issues. You will be conducting thorough market analyses to stay ahead of competitors in terms of markets, product ranges and pricing. You will be maintaining and nurturing relationships with existing clients, developing specific sales forecasts and achieving the monthly and annual sales targets.

Where you’ll be doing it

You will be traveling extensively between the various customers that you will be responsible for. You will be required to be in office once a week to attend the company meeting which is usually on a Friday in their offices in Roodepoort.

What you’ll need

You have at least 2 years of proven experience in external sales within a technical field. You have a valid driver’s license and your own transport. Being technically minded and having knowledge of conveyors or automation solutions is highly advantageous. If you have an existing client base within the food, beverage, and packaging sector, that’s a valuable asset.

In addition, you have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and a strong ability to negotiate effectively. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office, with a particular emphasis on intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and Word. Effective customer relationship management and call planning are important aspects of your role. A resilient and resourceful personality, coupled with a strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset, will contribute to your success. Excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently and a proactive approach to taking ownership of your position are all vital. You are fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
